The Missoni for Target Craze! Did you succumb to it? Missoni Madness!

Unless you have been living under a rock... you surely must have seen the national network's stories on how the Target website crashed on Target Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011. You could compare it to Black Friday with all the madness it created. The website crashed because it was the launch of the Missoni for Target clothing and housewares line. Who would have thought? right?

Missoni was founded in 1953 and is known for its distinctive zigzag patterns. It is a luxury label with the average dress selling for around $1,200. You fashionistas know this to be true.

The line was going to be available at Target for only ONE month. It is no wonder that people flocked to get their hands on some of these high end items with the famous patterns. The Missoni line sold out in hours online and the stores nationwide were wiped clean.

Within hours, Ebay sellers had items on the site for 2-5 times the store prices. The bicycle was so adorable and was selling from $700-$1,000. View the photo further down this page.

I KNEW it was going to be a hit! Missoni with its zigzag pattern costs beaucoup bucks and I was sooo excited to see it was going to have an affordable line even if it was at Target. I was aiming to bag some Missoni for our store and(myself).

I hit the Targets in Indiana, where I was at the time, thinking that they may not be so into Missoni. Wrong!!! BIG surprise when the shelves were literally wiped 90% clean. I did locate some snazzy items. People were literally taking items out of my cart! The nerve of them. I needed security please! Fights were erupting in the store! Oh my! Thank God that I have taken self defense classes.... Came in handy holding on to my loot!

I was able to pick up items here and there and Circa Vintage is now featuring these much sought after items. We have the tights, pillow, notebooks, dress, camisole, hoodie and many more items. I had my sister hit the Targets in her area and one of our store employees, Nicole found a few choice pieces on the west coast of Florida. We love that zig zag pattern! Yay!!!

Boo Hoo... Many people who ordered online are still waiting for their purchases. I tried to buy online that very morning only to have the Target dog letting me know the website was experiencing difficulties. The unprecedented demand impacted the webstore and has affected delivery for those fortunate enough to get their orders in before the crash. Mind you, that all these items are now collector's items since this Missoni deal was a one time deal with no re-orders for the stores. Ebay is doing a brisk business.

The Target Missoni looks like an exact replica but affordable. Were you lucky enough to bag a piece or two? If you were not fortunate to do so... stop by Circa Vintage and check out what we snagged!

Respectfully submitted,

Carol, your fashionista on the move

HOTTEST TRENDS FOR FALL/WINTER 2011, Fall in love with Fall!

Hi Readers!

For the girls who want to be stylish and dress their best, read this artcle.

As I scour the stores and latest magazines to see what the cool autumn and winter trends will be, these are my findings:

Lace is going to be BIG for the seasons ahead. Lovely vintage inspired lace dresses. Very feminine and still sexy. Bottega Veneta is featuring great lace dresses for their line. Lace sexy tops under a tailored suit adds just the right amount of drama for night.

Sexy jumpsuits will be great for the holidays.

Monochromatic looks are very flattering and very in with the stylists to the stars.

Wrap and sheath dresses are being inspired by Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge. She looks fabulous in Diane von Furstenberg.

For the holidays, you will be seeing a lot of dresses with pailettes, sequins and just plain bling.

"My boyfriend's back" !! Boyfriend jackets are back as well as the schoolboy style velvet blazers.
J.Crew has the velvet blazers and Circa Vintage Consignment Boutique does as well.(except at a fraction of the retail price). Blazers can dress an outfit up or down.

Jeans will be more 70's inspired and flared. Skinny jeans will still be in, but can take a break for now.

For outerwear: trench coats, wool coats and shiny jackets are must haves.

Statement earrings a la 1980's are back in all sorts of crazy patterns and styles. Vintage inspired purses are in style for the seasons ahead. We have the real thing at Circa Vintage!

Animal prints have always been in style. This season is no exception. Find them in purses, shoes and accessories.
Circa Vintage Consignment Boutique loves animal prints!!! Our carpet is leopard print and ooh la la!

Platform ankle boots in suede will be hot! Wear them with textured stockings.

Been seeing a lot of fur, real and fake used as vests, collars on jackets and dresses in all the magazines.

Tailored 1940's slacks are making a comeback for this season. Little tailored tweed suits too.

Will let you know of more findings as I research the fashion market.

Bye for now from Carol, your stylist at Circa Vintage Consignment Boutique.

Styling Tips 101

Do you find that your closet is full, yet you have nothing to wear?  I can assure you that 99% of us feel this way.
Many of us find it hard to put outfits together and also to mix and match from what we own to make different outfits from pieces in our closet.
When you look at magazines or see celebrities on TV, you have most likely seen the work of a paid stylist.
You too, can get this look, but for free.
I find that looking at fashion magazines inspire me and I try to copy styles that I think will flatter my figure.
When the new fashions hit the stores, many of us feel overwhelmed. Not to worry. I am here to give you some basic tips on how to survive the fashion scene!
First, look at your closet and donate or consign anything you have not worn in 2 years.
Next, make sure you have certain fashion staples at hand. These would include a pair or two of black leggings. Spanx, a strapless bra, and a few neck scarves and fun jewelry.
If you are looking to make a bold statement this season: Look for maxi dresses in brigh colors and patterns. Maxi dresses are so 1970's and can be ideal for an afternoon soiree or an evening fete.

I like having a black boyfriend jacket handy that can be mixed with dress shorts, or wear with skinny jeans and a crisp white shirt.

Adding fun jewelry to your existing outfits can be fun and chic. This is a fresh way to style our wardrobes. I love chunky necklaces and jeweled cuff bracelets. At work, I wear these with my maxi dresses and add a big, fun ring. I get many compliments on this look.
Back to the black leggings. This look can be 100 ways to change an outfit with black leggings. I try to find long tops that can be belted with the wide belts you see at all the stores these days. I wear ankle boots with this look. It gives it a real Parisian-Chic look. I could write a book on 100 ways to wear leggings and look oh so edgy chic!
I know... you say; I can't afford to buy so many new staples. Well, your fairy godmother is here to help! Shop consignment! You will be amazed at how many current items come into our store with the tags still on them. Just think... someone else has paid the premium for these items and they are now available to you at a fraction of the cost. Good consignment shops are like a nice boutique. Not a thrift store look.
Check us out at Circa Vintage Consignment and not only will you get outfits and accessories, but our staff is very customer oriented and knowledgeable. They are the best in customer service. You will not be disappointed.
Lastly, make your look your own. Find one thing you love and work it!
Please let me know your favorite look and how you put it together. I am sure others would love to hear how you make your closet work for you.
